[Oct 2023]  We use Frechet distance  a similarity measure to see how similar a set of trajectories are, and therefore to decide how much a trajectrory contributes to area coverage.  Here, an amazing explanation of discrete Frechet distance by Omrit Filtser here , and second brief explanation of the same concept here
